These plant-based plastics are designed to break down in industrial composting facilities. If they are mixed with oil-based PET or HDPE, they contaminate the plastic recycling stream, compromising the structural integrity of the recycled plastic pellets during melting. If you do not have a dedicated industrial composting collection, these items must go into your general waste bin.
